Create an Apple Account on Your Device

You can follow these steps while setting up an iPhone, iPad or Apple Vision Pro.

1. Start the Account Setup

Tap “Forgot password or don’t have an account?” and then select “Create a Free Apple Account”.

2. Enter Your Personal Details

Enter your correct name and date of birth, then tap “Continue”.

3. Add Your Email Address

Enter the email address you would like to use to sign in to your Apple Account.

Don’t have an email address? Tap “Don’t have an email address?” to create a free iCloud email address.

4. Complete the Security Setup

Follow the instructions displayed on your screen to:

• Verify your email address
• Create a strong password
• Select South Africa as your country or region
• Set up two-factor authentication

If you skip any available steps, Apple may ask you to complete them later in Settings.

5. Sign In to Your New Account

Once your email address has been verified, you can sign in and start using the App Store, iCloud and other Apple services.

Important Information

• Children and teenagers may need a parent or guardian to create an account through Family Sharing, depending on their age.
• Apple may ask for a mobile number to verify your identity and help recover your account.
• You may also be asked to provide a payment method and billing information.
• Adding a payment method does not automatically charge you. You will only be charged when you make a purchase or start a paid subscription.
• Never share your Apple Account password or verification code with anyone.

Can’t Create an Apple Account?

If you see the message “Your account cannot be created at this time”, wait a while and try again.

This may also happen if the device has already been used to create several Apple Accounts.
